Shopping : More Convenient than Ever

Shopping is considered one of the favorite pastimes of most people. Now that it has evolved because of technology, particularly the internet, we can say that shopping has taken a giant leap in terms of how we get it done. From the old school way of lining up at a local supermarket (not to mention the difficulty of finding a parking spot, the crowds during sale season, and the grueling hours being stuck in traffic), we can now shop at the convenience of a few mouse clicks.

Online shopping offers, not just convenience, but a wide array of items for our buying needs. We can buy furniture or even outdoor furniture covers online. Isn’t it amazing? Everything that you might need may just be a click away!

Being the practical person that I am, even when I see the markup on an item’s price, I convince myself to buy it anyway since I know I’m buying the convenience that comes with the item. I always take that into consideration. However, when group-buying sites came into the picture, I can say they empowered consumers to take advantage of huge discounts on goods and services that are important for everyday needs and luxury, such as personal grooming, workouts, dance lessons, vacations and other special interests for you and your family to enjoy.

My favorite group-buying sites are Ensogo, CashCashPinoy and Deal Grocer because they feature a lot of interesting deals that I can choose from, and they offer amazing discounts/deals, while providing you a secured and convenient way of shopping. I haven’t had any negative experience from them yet, and I hope I won’t. ;)

If you check the sidebar of this blog, you’ll find various group-buying sites that I’m a member of. I’m actually gathering all the links and I’ll be putting them up on a separate page along with my own reviews of each site. For now, let me tell you about eBay Philippines Kuponan,

Just like other group deals sites, eBay Philippines Kuponan offers great discounts from different businesses and merchants who provide products and services such as massage, package deals for out-of-town trips, hotel accommodations, buffets, etc. What’s great about Kuponan is it’s part of eBay Philippines, meaning it’s backed up by the reliability and security of the payment / e-commerce system that eBay has been known for. You’d feel safer knowing you’re transacting with them. :)

The major difference between eBay Philippines Kuponan is that you don’t pay the full amount with them. There are deals that you have to pay only a certain amount with eBay and then the rest will be paid to the merchant for you to claim your voucher or avail of the discount / deal. This may be good for those who don’t like spending too much money online and prefer to transact offline.

  1. This is the original price of the service or product.
  2. This is the discounted price. For this sample deal, you’re getting a whopping 86% off! :)
  3. This means you only have to pay Php 10.00 NOW for you to reserve a voucher or coupon. The rest of the discounted amount will be paid to the merchant directly.
  4. This is the time left before the deal expires or ends.
  5. This will show if the deal is already on and how many vouchers / coupons were sold.

Another feature that I didn’t find on any other group deals sites is the ability to contact the seller right off the deal’s page.

Are you a member of Pakyaw, one of the popular group-buying sites to-date? If you are, I’m sure you’ve heard of their Black Bag raffle promo where we get a chance to buy what’s in it for Php 2,000 only (through credit card) on the Pakyaw website.

I got really intrigued by this and I participated in the first Black Bag promo. I completely thought I already opted in the second week so I missed the chance to win. Boohoo.

What were in those bags, you might be asking. Well, the first Black Bag contained a Samsung 32-inch LCD TV and a fellow blogger, Richard of Tales from the Tummy, won it. The second Black Bag was won by Jessica. Here’s a video of her receiving the mystery prize:

I don’t really consider myself a risk-taker, but this one, I’m willing to try my luck on. So, how do you exactly opt in to get a chance to win the promo?

Step 1: Register for Pakyaw

  1. Go to www.pakyaw.com.ph.
  2. Click “Register” on the upper right which will take you to the registration page.
  3. Fill in the required fields with your personal information.
  4. Click the box to agree to all Pakyaw Terms and Conditions then click on Register.
  5. Check your email inbox for a verification email from Pakyaw. Click on the link provided to verify your email address.

That’s it! Now, how do you opt in?

Step 2: Opt-in to participate in the Black Bag Promo

  1. Click on the Black Bag promo box on the main page of the Pakyaw website. For the third week, you can click here.
  2. To opt-in to participate in the promo for that given week, click the “BUY” button. Take note that there is no cost (yes, FREE) to opt-in and the price on the deal page reads P0 (zero).
  3. Once you click “BUY”, a thank you and confirmation page will appear. You should then see an order confirmation in your Pakyaw account.
  4. In order to participate in each week’s black bag draw, members will have to repeat this process for opting-in for the chance to buy the bag each separate week.

If you win, again, you get the chance to pay for it for Php 2,000. Based on the past 2 weeks, they might deliver the package to you directly. I don’t mind, as long as it’s a much-awaited gadget!

Waahhh I want a DSLR! Or an iPad2! Or a brand new laptop or netbook even! I’ve already opted in and I’m crossing my fingers that I win next time.
